It is with great pleasure that we invite you to join us at Gulmarg Heliski for our opening season 10 January – 20 February 2011.

Gulmarg Heliski is a partnership between local Kashmir mountain guide Billa Bakshi and New Zealand ski industry businessman Martin Jones. With experienced international mountain guides, a Squirrel B3 helicopter, and a private helicopter base at our hotel – Gulmarg Heliski is proud to offer heliski and snowboard clients exclusive access to the PIR PANJAL RANGE – the very best Himalayan powder that Kashmir has to offer.

In 2004, construction of the world’s highest gondola tele-cabine gave big mountain free-riders access to the 4,000m ridge of Mount Apharwat, above Gulmarg Ski Village. Gulmarg Heliski operates from Gulmarg Ski Village and offers our clients quality hotel accommodation, high altitude champagne powder, and exclusive access to a massive variety of terrain within the Pir Panjal Wilderness Reserve – with 66 Himalayan peaks higher than 3,000m, and 22 peaks higher than 4,000m.

Our guide to client ratio is 1:4, with a maximum of 20 clients per day. Exclusive private charter is also available. Our team of guides can ski fast with maximum vertical clients, or match terrain choice and number of runs to suit the clients’ ability and enjoyment of their heliski experience.

We supply K2 Pontoon powder skis for all our ski clients and guides. Boarders should bring their own equipment. All clients should bring their own avalanche transceiver, air bag, shovel and probe.

Weather conditions are generally sunshine and blue sky in between powder snowfalls with very little wind, and an average of 1 – 1.5 days per week are non-flying due to weather conditions. During these days we team up with Billas’ Gulmarg Powder Guides who can take us off-piste through the trees and enjoy visiting the local villages of Babareshi, Tangmang and Drang.
